Peter, End of another year already! Looking forward to a good read. Yet again the anticipation!!!!! All the best, John. |
From: jase (patientjason@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
Surely that's the DTEK caption comp ad' on the cover ! !
From: sue (sarcher8@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
How about, "Determined to get on the cover of this issue of Velovision, Seamus hired a giant pantomine Alsation costume". ;-)
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
The dog's not really that big Susan. It only appears to be giant because it's closer to the camera than the woman on the bicycle.
Anyway if I really wanted to be on the front cover I'd simply opt for bribery |
From: Peter Eland (peter@velovision.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
I'm on for that, Seamus - but won't be cheap. And you'd have to smile.
You do feature photographically in Issue 12 incidentally - free of charge :-) |
From: brian (bholt37@aol.com) on 2 August 2006
He would have figured twice Pete if I'd not "pulled" the shot that I considered unfit for public consumption.
From: TandemFlyer (TandemFlyer@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
What is the correct ETRO sizing for those 42" trailer wheels ?
From: TandemFlyer (TandemFlyer@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
I bet that Alsatians mother walks funny !!! Is that the ultimate in anti theft devices ? They should never have started feeding Fido on GM foodstuffs !!! I'll stop now .....
From: sue (sarcher@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
You should see the size of wheels built for the guy who misunderstood the concept of the BOB Yak trailer...
From: Norti Rascal (@hmp.com) on 2 August 2006
are you sure it's a costume and not a little light makeup?
From: Span Tally (st@garboldisham.net) on 2 August 2006
My suspicion is that what we have here is a photograph of former HPV Hour Record holder Pat "Mad Dog" Kinch. Working in a small animal vetinary practice has clearly had a profound effect on him...
From: Seamus (etc.) on 2 August 2006
I appeared 4 times in issue 7 of Velovision.
Is this a record?*
*Jokes along the lines of, "no, it's a website, magazine etc," will NOT be tolerated. |
From: Antony (at pedalcars dot info) on 2 August 2006
What about "No, it's a disgrace"?
From: Neil (bleaklow1@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Looking forward to Dec 3rd and I understand you have an advert from those nice Company of Cyclists people advertising their Bike Culture Week at Pocklington;-)
From: Roger the Hilldodger (@cyclemagic) on 2 August 2006
Nice people at CoC - except Jason. He's horrible.
RtH Leicester most handsome Penny Farthing rider |
From: Neil (bleaklow1@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Jason!!!!!!!!!!!
You should try working with him; nothing but charm, wit, intelligence and helpfulness god its dreadful. |
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
Don't want to appear to be a snitch but Roger told me Jason's appalling behavior was the real reason for no more Spokesfests.
For those who weren't there, Jason tried to kill Roger with a plum.
Also Jase reckons, "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," isa great film but it isn't! |
From: John Turvey (somewhere_at_something) on 2 August 2006
And then there was the frisbee incident in 2001 - apart from the model plane, my pint of beer gave its life for me. Ths year we tried to dispose of the frisbees in a bush, but Jason is so attached to them he insisted on retriving them.
From: Macquis d'Egville (marquis@loire.com) on 2 August 2006
Perhaps it's time to give Jason a rest - otherwise he will find even more hills to lead us up!
From: Lord Elpus (etc) on 2 August 2006
On his silly small wheeled bicycle.
From: tandemflyer (tandemflyer@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
So what your trying to say John Turvey, is that Jason is the 'retriever' in the trailer ? I'm no K9 specialist, but I think its an Alsation not a Retriever !
From: S (etc) on 2 August 2006
The Frisbee's in the bush incident was fun. Jase accused me of deliberately throwing them in the bush but all I'd done was throw them into the air.
|
From: John Turvey ((~~)) on 2 August 2006
"all I'd done was throw them into the air" - that was what Jason said about the plums (and about the frisbees in 2001)
From: Peter Eland (peter@velovision.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Just heard from the printers that the mags won't be here until Thursday the 4th. Luckily I have several eager volunteers (more are always welcome!) ready to stuff envelopes on Thurs afternoon, so with a bit of luck we'll be able to get them all in the post by the end of Friday. As usual I'll get the overseas ones done first, as otherwise they'd have longest to wait.
From: . (.) on 2 August 2006
Don't forget to do Seamuses last;-)
From: Jase (patientjason@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
Gosh how amusing. Must fly.........................
From: Marquis d'Egville (marquis@loire.com) on 2 August 2006
"Must fly.............." - now that explains how Jasen gets up all those hills
From: Steve (Pedaldog@aol.com) on 2 August 2006
OKay, Okay... quit the heavy stuff, the cheque is in the post!!!!!
From: S (etc) on 2 August 2006
Roger the Hilldodger’s description of Byke Kultuur Never on the Cycling+ bulletin board… “Fuuny, informative, controversial and none of the boring racer boy/anal retentive stuff. And it mentions me a lot.”
John Jermy’s description of Velovision on the Cycling+ bulletin board… "Covering specialised bikes, cycling as transport and human power. It's a quarterly dose of cycle inspiration."
Roger the Hilldodger’s description of Velovision on the same place… "Covering specialised bikes, cycling as transport and human power. It's a quarterly dose of cycle inspiration. And it mentions me, Seamus and John a lot.”
BKN also mentions Mr Eland a lot. |
From: Peter Eland (peter@velovision.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Mag just arrived - 16:30 Thurs. On with stuffing envelopes :-)
From: sue (sarcher8@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
Pork and chestnut is nice, although sometimes you can't beat good old Paxo. And what's with the 'stuffing' you get in some sandwiches/hot pork rolls etc which is a sort of vaguely flavoured breadcrumb mush?
From: Mattew Brown (boringmatthew@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Well done Susan for getting this thread back on topic.
From: Lord Elpus (@elpusmanor) on 2 August 2006
Blenkinsop, my faithful old retainer, will convey to me the contents of this issue by way of a pantomime. An Alsation will play the part of Seamus but he's still looking for a village idiot to play the part of a photographer.
From: Tom (tom@compofcyclists.demon.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Guys, if you're going to use her full name, use Susannah. Susan makes her all ratty and we have to work with her. (It could be worse - Susy makes her go completely Kingcycle...)
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
I can well understand that Tom. I've a colleague at work called Susan and she gets really riled whenever we call her Suky.
Incidentally, her initials are SH and her pals AT so on any notices for them I put down SHAT |
From: Norti Rascal (@hmp.com) on 2 August 2006
Suzy Poos is out of the question then?
From: John Shackford (john28july@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Anyone taken delivery of the latest issue yet? Its Monday now and I am Velovisionless! John. http://www.pbase.com/john28july

From: . (.) on 2 August 2006
Crumbs John! Give it a chance.
From: sue (sue@compofcyclists.demon.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Oh our work copy arrived this morning! Of course, I'm at work and wouldn't dream of spending company time looking at it. Nice picture of Seamus....
From: John Shackford (john28july@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
I wasnt complaining. I just want to get my hands on it! I know that they were all mailed and somtimes it arrives next day and sometimes days later. Just waiting with anticipation. John. |
From: Dave Minter (scarletpimpernel@they seekhim.) on 2 August 2006
Unfortunately the latest VV arrived this morning before I left for work. A quick 'flip through' became a late arrival at work. Naughty Mr Eland.
From: Tom (tom@compofcyclists.demon.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Tee Hee! Reading VV is compulsory in our office!
From: sue (sarcher8@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
Of course those who don't live in York don't know about the chaos caused when Velovision goes out - the Chinooks hovering over St Nicholas' Fields picking up crates for airlifting to all corners of the world, the hundreds of couriers streaming out in every direction, the crowds gathered outside the city walls begging for copies, and all with Mr Eland in the centre, controlling operations pushing little bikes round a map table...
From: Steve (steve.watkin1@btinternet.com) on 2 August 2006
It's now the end of the day (8th) and my copy didn't arrive, sob, sob !!
From: John Shackford (john28july@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Its now the 9th of December and still the postman fails to deliver Velovision. I will nbe reading mine Christmas day at this rate. How come a load of envelopes posted all at the same time(?) take such different times to get to there destination? Mmmmm will it arrive tomorrow? John. Envious of all those rearers out there.!!! |
From: Crispin (crispinbennett@tinyworld.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Unable to wait any longer for VeloVision to arrive, I decided to look for pictures of Seamus using image search on Google (search term - Seamus King). Imagine my horror when I saw the first link: www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/ family/abequa/10.htm
Are we safe ? Crispin |
From: Tandemflyer (TANDEMFLYER@HOTMAIL.COM) on 2 August 2006
My VV turned up yesterday and as a result we my girlfriend had to wait twenty minutes for her cup of coffee. Well done to all involved, its another belter, my cheque will be in the post shortly. Does anyone else work in a non cycling environment, each day I fight the good fight and struggle to convert the lardy arses I work with. But seeing as they have never experienced the 'joy of the journey' its an uphill struggle (like a recumbant ?)
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
Don't fret Crispy.
That murder had nowt to do with me. In fact the only, to me, relevant link on there is... http://www.foldsoc.co.uk/cf2000/cf2000rep.html
Dodgy piccie of me with Seamus King with a well laden Moulton APB at Cyclefest 2K. |
From: Idly (Curious) on 2 August 2006
There's an odd letter in Cycling Plus about folding Bicycle helmets, well an email actually from Seamus.
Is it the same Seamus as frequents this site? |
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
Yes. It was summat I'd seen in, "Bike Culture Quartely."
Bloomin' 'eck! You'd not believe how awkward it was typing out that BCQ and spelling it right.
|
From: Neil Derbyshire (neil@compofcyclists.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Well as Tom said above for those at CoC VV is required reading and even I have a subscription now!!!!!!!!!!! I lke to judge a publication by its adds so was particularly pleased to see the Bike Culture Week ad although our friend Jason tell s me its filling up fast. Soz Peter wont do it again.
|
From: John Shackford (john28july@yahoo.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Well its arrived this morning covered with seasonal frost! Also included with it, is, renewal subscription form! Drat drat drat, I will keep Peter guessing until March. Must get down to read it now. John. |
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
MINE HASN'T!!!!
Well it hadn't by the time I set off for work |
From: Roger T Hilldodger (@cyclemagic) on 2 August 2006
Tom, My e mail has packed up again - hence the message here. Can't make it to York this weekend because I'm in Ipswich seeing you know who. And because Jason might be there.
RtH |
From: Tom (Tom@compofcyclistsetc) on 2 August 2006
No worries on the Jason front Rog - I've sent him on an urgent mission to Out Skerries on a one way ticket...

Sorry Seamus but should that be "Bike Culture Quarte(r)ly." |
From: scared Jase (patientjason@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
So little brother is pictured pride of place in latest issue. A FAB image. Rog we should go tandemming sometime soon....
From: Geoff Elliott (geoff-elliott@tinyworld.co.uk) on 2 August 2006
Thank-you Peter. Truly excellent content in every respect. No hesitation in renewing my subscription.
From: Roger t Hilldodger (@cyclemagic) on 2 August 2006
OK Jase, when are you coming down?
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
Mine hasn't!
Andy - Even harder than I thought.
Jase - What was it you were always saying about two blokes on a tandem together? Hmm;-)
|
From: Steve Collier (stevec@hrp.no) on 2 August 2006
Congratulations on another excellent issue. It just keeps getting better and better. Some porno magnate should buy you out Peter and make you rich.
From: Seamus (etc) on 2 August 2006
The dog appears 4 times.
It's owner only 3 times.
Trevor Smith, Sharon Lister and that bloke on the Easy Racer, whose name I should know but don't, each appear twice. |
From: John T ({[(...)}]) on 2 August 2006
Easy Racer rider is Vince Fox
From: S. (etc) on 2 August 2006
Thanks.

From: sue (sarcher8@hotmail.com) on 2 August 2006
At my riding lesson this week, my friend Eva was on a horse called Seamus. Mildly interesting point: Horses are like bicycles in that ponies (short legs) give a bumpier ride than horses (long legs) - like small and large wheeled bikes ( but you can't fit suspension to a horse). Otherwise, they're quite different, in that a bike usually goes where you want it to and doesn't eat polo mints.
From: Andy (andysutty@aol.com) on 2 August 2006
That Easy Racer Rider is actually me. Vince Fox is about the same age as me, owns a Trice XL, and comes from somewhere near Manchester. I'm glad I'm that memorable Seamus (maybe it's all the Steak and ALE pies?!)
From: S. (etc) on 2 August 2006
Sorry Andy, no-one ever told me your name and I'm far too humble to ask.
Vince Fox is one of those attending next years Eco-Trip in Northumberland, as am i. |
From: Andy the EZ Racer Rider (Z-List-Ville) on 2 August 2006
That's Okay Seamus. I'm far too unimportant to be remembered, unlike yourself. You're like the resident model for Velovision. One day I hope I might be as famous as you? Or should that be infamous? Happy New Year. |
