ICE launch 2010 trike range

Front suspension, new rear ends, new folding mechanism, new models and a new website - the Cornwall-based recumbent makers have been busy!

Inspired Cycle Engineering have just released details of their 2010 trike range.

The two main new features are their new folding system on all models (they call it a "Compact flat twist fold (C.F.T)"), and new suspension systems for both front and rear ("Front and Rear Road Response Suspension (R.R.S)").

The folding system:

Front suspension:

New rear swingarm (20" wheel):

The suspension can be seen working here:

Hardtail rear triangles (without suspension ) will also be available for 20", 26" and 700c wheel sizes.

The three new models are the Adventure, Sprint and Vortex. A new longer video takes a look at these:

The Adventure appears to be the successor to the 'T' - with a slightly higher, more upright riding position:

The Sprint is more like the 'Q' of old:

and the Vortex is a speed machine:

By the time you read this the new ICE trikes website should be live at www.icetrikes.co.uk and there's also a Youtube channel with further videos of the 2010 range at www.youtube.com/icetrikes.

We should be receiving a full suspension test trike very shortly - watch out for the review in Velo Vision 37, out in March!

  • Glad I bought mine 2 years ago before all the price hikes. Certainly wouldn't buy at this price.

  • I think it worth noting that the Sprint has better ground clearance than the old Q.

I find it a little odd that the fs versions are either with drum brakes or with the hydraulic gator i.e. no BB7 option.

  • I was just saying to someone that they or the go back to the origal T20.

    There have. well nearly.
The Adventure 1 is very nearly at £1,899.00 it isn't too much (if i had a job).

I glad I bought my Trice just when I did. Befor the prices when up.

The \"ICE Optimised folding frame with 4130 Chromoly cruciform and 7005 series heat treated boom and rear section,\" sounds good.

The, \"Compact Flat Twist,\" folding sound good.

Pity I dont live in York so I could have a go.

  • Hmm, the Adventure is the new T, the Sprint is the new Q and the Vortex is the new S? (Though that ignores the 26/700 rear wheel options.) That would fit with the Sprint seemingly not being available with a hardshell seat.

I wonder if these new trikes hint also hint at updates to the B1 and B2 in coming years? :-)

  • Why do they hsve they rear pannier past the rear dropout?

Surely the luggage should between the wheels.
Outside the wheels its making the trice does bad things

  • From: John Turvey on 19 January 2010
  • \"Doing bad things\" - indeed yes - on my Micro, which is normally VERY stable (as it is VERY low) the first time I carried camping gear (I know it is not really meant for camping tours - thats why I got an XXL later) I nearly turned it over twice on the way from home into Newcastle - a route I had used it on many times before with no problems, and usually at a higher speed - but just about all the luggage on a Micro is carried behind the rear axle. Much bigger loads on my XXL do not cause problems, as the rear wheel is further back.

  • I like the way all roads in Cornwall seem to go downhill! No shots of them inching up a 1:4 in bottom gear then?

The bikes (B1 and B2) certainly seem to take a back seat to the trikes. I hear very little of them (other than the VV review) and wonder what proportion of sales are bikes compared to bikes.

A B1 would go nicely with my QNT, btw.

  • From: yangmusa on 20 January 2010
  • I also thought there was not much info out there about the bikes, so I wrote this review about my B1: http://www.recumbentjournal.com/reviews/item/60-honey-my-high-racer-shrank-in-the-wash-an-ice-b1-review.html

  • This of what i'dd have Adventure 3 (assuming i have a job)
    Red
    Sturmey Archer drum brakes
    Flex pack
    =£2,760.18
(that £1000 past why I payed last time)

This picciie up there, the rear carrier past the rear dropout BUT on the Trice website it's over the rear dropout.
    I wonder which it is?
