Velo Vision to launch Electric Bike magazine! We are proud to announce a new magazine all about power-assisted cycles, with the public launch coming at this year's Tour de Presteigne next weekend, and the first issue to be out in August... It's been a busy period here at Velo Vision! As well as putting out Velo Vision 37 in March and organising the SPEZI trip in April, we've also been labouring away behind the scenes on an exciting new project: Electric Bike magazine! The idea really took shape at the London cycle show last year, when we were approached by numerous electric bike manufacturers and vendors, all keen that we increase the electric bike content of Velo Vision - and that we review their products! But Velo Vision has such a range of bikes to cover, and the existing balance seems to suit many readers so well, that it soon became clear that the best option would be to start a separate, dedicated magazine. It also became obvious that the main need is for a magazine to reach out to newcomers to the field, to educate and inform. With this in mind Electric Bike will run on a free distribution model, so that copies will be available free from participating dealers, advertisers and special needs organisations. It'll also be available free and in full online. The first two issues at least will also be mailed out free of charge to Velo Vision subscribers along with Issues 39 (September) and 40 (December) of Velo Vision. After that I'll review the situation - it may be that I need to charge a little extra to cover additional postage costs. Separate postal subscriptions to Electric Bike are also available (worldwide) at a modest cost. You can already subscribe online. An interim website is now running at: www.electricbikemag.co.uk A full interactive website with news, informative articles, buying advice and useful, targetted adverts will be launched shortly. The magazine itself will be around A4 in size and in full colour, and will be produced to the same high quality you have come to expect from Velo Vision. Electric Bike will feature:
Dealers, distributors and manufacturers are invited to contact us immediately to participate from Issue 1. Very affordable dealer listings and display advertising rates are available to ensure that your shop or brand reaches the readers, both on paper and online. See our advertising/dealer rates and details. We're offering a full 40% discount for the first issue and 20% for the second - plus even greater reductions when you book for a whole year! Electric Bike is set to be the leading voice of the industry - be part of it. Readers of Velo Vision should be assured that their magazine will continue unchanged, and it remains our primary passion. We'll be putting extra resources in place to ensure that we can more than cope with both. Electric Bike, like Velo Vision, will very much value your letters, contributions and suggestions. Please do get in touch. Meet the team at the Tour de Presteigne Electric Bike Rally in Wales on the 8th-10th May: Electric Bike will be exhibiting and, we hope, getting to know everyone in the industry! Meanwhile, why not download our pre-launch leaflet or subscribe online to make sure you don't miss the first issue! Posted on 30 April 2010
