Tour de Presteigne is this weekend!

We're off to the Electric Bike Rally in Presteigne, on the border of Wales and England, for the public launch of our new magazine...

This is the fifth year that the Tour de Presteigne event has run in this border town (more about Presteigne) and alongside the trade show where we and many electric bike suppliers will be exhibiting, there's lots going on, as the organisers explain:

"As previous visitors will know, the show does not just consist of displays of machines: there will be plenty to do including a hill climb, a 15-20 mile Orienteering Treasure Hunt around the fabulous local scenery that will test people’s brains and cunning as well as their speed and endurance and of course the exciting finale at 3pm on Sunday, when there will be a fancy dress parade around the closed streets of Presteigne. This year a brand new gallery and café has just opened right in the middle of the site and this will be the venue for Saturday night’s quiz and musical entertainment. The site will be open from 1pm to 7pm on the Saturday to allow stallholders lots of time to get there on Saturday morning and so that the exhibition can run on into the evening’s entertainment. On the Sunday, it will revert to its usual opening times of 11am to 5pm. This year there will be lots more participation by the regular non-electric bike community including stalls, a vintage bike parade and the fancy dress parade itself will be open to all cyclists.

Quite how this tiny Border town became such a leading player in the search for alternative low carbon solutions to the planets transport problems is a bit of a mystery, even to the events founder Pete Mustill, but it certainly is the place to be on May the 8th and 9th if you have any interest at all in alternative transport."

We're looking forward to meeting everyone and introducing Electric Bike Magazine!

  • We didn't take part in anything with 'winners' - unless you count the impromtu tent pitching contest when we arrived. Winner uncertain - one person might have actually finished first, but that person might have woken up later in a pool of water due to lack of fabric tension and the rain. ;-)
