New year catch-up - Part 1

Rounding up recent news and correspondence: ICE trike updates for 07, Pedalcar News is out, a new CityCycling, Expedition 360's Tibet slideshow, Cetma racks interview, bike lanes video, a seriously electic BMX, NYT on bikes, and the Norway Bike Lift on film... more news follows shortly!

ICE revamp for 2007
Trice makers ICE have announced their 2007 range with a number of changes, as also featured in Issue 24 page 14. Major among them are hydraulic brakes as a (often retro-fittable) option, and a choice of solid or mesh seats on all models. They also report that sales were up 35% on the previous year, and over the winter they've extended their factory area by 50%, and they're continuing to expand their production capacity.

Pedalcar News
The latest from the world of pedalcar racing can be found: in this Pedalcar News PDF including news of new sponsors, a look at BPCC history, and a report from the racing in France at St Etienne de Chigny.

CityCycling 19 is out
Find it here: www.citycycling.co.uk. Note a computer problem means those who subscribed to their mailing list will need to re-subscribe.

Expedition 360 in Tibet
Jason from Expedition 360, the totally human-powered round-the-world trip, points out this slideshow gallery of their Asia leg from China to Mumbai, India. Dial-up users beware, loads of images!

Cetma Racks interview
Thanks to Lane Kagay of Cetma Racks for the tip-off about this interview with him about his courier-bike front racks.

Bikes lanes video:
On the same blog as the above interview, an interesting video advocating the use of physically separated bike lanes in New York:

Major electric-assist on a BMX video
Thanks to a poster on the BikeBiz trade forum, we have here video of an electrically (over?)assisted BMX. The people apparently behind it, Team Hybrid also promote handcycles and hub motor systems in the UK.

NYT on bikes
John Bailey writes with a link to this New York Times article which features a Christiania trike picture and some good discussion of the traffic problems facing Dublin, Ireland.

The bike lift
Craig Wrigglesworth writes with a link to a video shoing the Bike Lift in action. Norway's Bike Lift opened in 1993. The same video is also on YouTube here.
