Velo Vision magazine nominated for 2002 Utne Independent Press Award Utne, the USA's leading magazine of alternative ideas, announces the nomination of Velo Vision for an Utne Independent Press Award in the 'New Paradigm Culture Coverage' category.
Update Jan 2003: unfortunately we didn't win. The prize in our category went to Fourth Door Review. Congratulations to them.

The Utne Independent Press Awards (http://www.utne.com/uipa) recognize excellence in alternative and independent publishing. Utnes editors select nominee publications through their extensive reading process and careful examination, rather than a competition requiring entry forms and fees. In this way, Utne honors the efforts of small, sometimes unnoticed publications that provide innovative, thought-provoking perspectives often ignored or overlooked by mass media.
"Velo Vision stands out as an important independent voice in the North American media. We are pleased to honor your accomplishments with an Utne Independent Press Award nomination", said Utne Editor Jay Walljasper.
Velo Vision magazine is an independent quarterly covering cycles as transport, the forgotten possibilities of human power, and the community and social benefits of cycling. Velo Vision tackles contemporary transport issues not through anti-car rhetoric but by presenting positive examples of cycling solutions. Exciting new cycle technology, and the imaginative ways in which cycles are used by forward-thinkers worldwide, are showcased in a professional, inspirational publication with high standards of design, writing and photography.
Utne magazine, the USA's leading digest of the alternative media, has a paid circulation of 225,000. Since 1984, Utne has published the most innovative thinking on the critical issues of our time, informing and inspiring its readers to action.
