Next year's BPCC schedule announced
The 2003 British Pedal Car Championship schedule has been released
Jeremy Featherstone informs me:
************
This has been extended by an extra early season race in March to make it eight rounds totalling between fifty five and sixty hours of racing:
- Sunday, March 16th: Desford "Super Sprints" (1*45min + 1*100min [T.B.C.])
- Sunday, April 6th: 100 mile race, Darley Moor
- Sunday, May 11th: 6 hour race, Wolverhampton East Park
- Saturday June 20th - Sunday June 21st: 24 hour race, Margam Park
- Sunday July 20th: "Preston 120" (120 miles). Preston Sports Arena.
- Saturday, August 30th: 4*90minute races, Panasonic, Bracknel
- Sunday, August 31st: 5 hour race, Panasonic, Bracknell
- Saturday, September 20th: 5*60 minute races, Curborough
Whereas pedal cars may not go as fast or cost as much money as some HPVs, one thing we can guarantee you is lots and lots of racing on all sorts of different circuits, over all sorts of different distances, for all sorts of different people.
To be British Pedal Car Champions both your machinery and your drivers have to be true 'all rounders'.
Last year's open and under 16s championships were the closest fought ever culminating in one of the fastest pedal car races on record. Next year, it should be even better.

Bad news for anyone wanting to try the sport at the SpokesFest race - unfortunately for reasons largely beyond our control (and that of SpokesFest), BPCC Round 5 is moving a couple of miles up the road. To Preston, Lancashire.
The venue is Preston Sports Arena to be precise, where there is a fantastic circuit.
Date remains Sunday July 20th; however the format will also change to a single endurance race, "The Preston 120".
Race ends when the lead car completes 120 laps (it's a 1-mile circuit), with the caveat of a 6 hour time limit.
We intend to be represented in some way at SpokesFest the following weekend, so visitors can at least see (and hopefully try) some of the cars.

[Peter, please delete the above, I pressed the wrong button]
I for one hope to be racing in the HPV event in one of our cars assuming (after 2 races in 2 weeks) that we have one in less than a thousand bits. If not, does anyone know the whereabouts of that lovely 4-seater Austin 7 pedal car they had at York? Or the 8 seater conference bike? ANYTHING but the Z.E.M! |

http://www.conferencebike.com/ (go on, guess...)
And I think the '7 was brought to York by http://www.cyclesmaximus.com/

A bright yellow seven seater OCTOS is now part of the Company of Cyclists fleet and available for weddings, parties and Bar-Mitzvahs. So are two ZEM's, bit as you say, there's no joy in 'em. |
