Any underemployed hub gear engineers out there? SRAM have a job going...

Unfortunately, it's in Schweinfurt, Germany, so any ex-Sturmey employees who might be interested are looking at a big move... and as the job advert is in German, speaking the language would be a good idea, too.

The SRAM website advertises two engineering jobs at the Schweinfurt headquarters. Sachs hub gears have been made here since the dawn of cycling time, more or less, and there's likely to be a fair bit of local competition.

Dualdrive

SRAM's latest - the DualDrive rear hub.

The first job is for a hub gear design engineer. Although experience in related fields (gearing and transmissions) is asked for, clearly previous work on hub gears would be a big plus. You'd also need CAD (preferably Pro-Engineer) experience and good English.

If that doesn't suit, there's a vacancy for an experienced test engineer, with a good knowledge of instrumentation and testing of components made from plastics and composites.

The website also offers various marketing and admin posts, in the USA and Europe.

Incidentally, if you;'re looking for a job in the bike trade, it's worth checking the websites of most of the big players regularly - for example Specialised, Trek and many more have online job listings.
