Bike Right report

Velo Vision was at Bike Right 8.5 in Northumberland this weekend - here's an illustrated report.

The event is held at Longridge Towers School and was organised by Phil Stanbury - who was unfortunately called away from the event itself but was ably deputised by cycling photographer and all-round good egg Jason Patient:

Arriving on the Friday evening, participants were treated as ever to a great evening meal followed by some cycling videos... and the next morning a full breakfast before the rides set off. I went on a 38-ish miler led by Paul Stobbs, on a borrowed Anthrotech trike after his bike was stolen on a recent visit to Amsterdam:

Also on a replacement trike was Ken Davison. The ICE boys in Cornwall are apparently already working on getting him a new Trice - but for now, he had to make do with a Kettwiesel borrowed from the Wheels for All (cycling for the disabled) project which he helps run:

A very pleasant ride through the empty Northumberland lanes in the sunshine was enjoyed by all, on all sorts of machine:

Seamus King was enjoying his new Challenge Mistral:

Back at Longridge there was much messing about on bikes before dinner and a slide show: that's Jason's brother Trevor on the Mistral:

Next day we all set off on a mass ride to Coldingham:

Lunch was at the Anchor Inn:

And the lovely weather continued all the way back to Longridge and the end of the event:

  • Seamus King was enjoying his new Challenge Mistral:

    Don't look like it.

  • No, that was definitely a smile, though, to be sure, "Seamus King was posing with his..." would be vastly more accurate.

Lots of people had goes on my Mistral. I felt sorry for Trevor and his Challenge Hurricane, so last years bike.

ANDm our team won the quiz though the cowish prizes I'm not sure made winning worthwhile.

  • Seamus - your team squeaked a victory in the quiz. I'll be paying attention next year and will choose teammates who can contribute some answers.
    Great event though !

  • Ayup Crispin. That's loosers talk that is.

You should be pleased you lost. At least you didn't have to win a typical Jason Patient Prize...one ceramic cow!

  • You win for glory not prizes. Cooks surprise gift payed for by generous collection donations will be flowers delivered to her home.

  • Seamus had a new accessory for his new bike on the Sunday morning - was this the effect of ken davison's Georgie lessons on Saturday?

(I am e-mailing a photo with the accessory direct to Velovision - perhaps Peter will post it .)

  • The piccie of Trev on my Mistral features that ffffing cow on the stem of my bike. It was a good joke at the time.

The cow got transferred to the Moulton featured but got 'lost' on the big, fast downhill to Ayton on the Sunday morning ride.

Crispin's page is good too; slight appearance of me but several mentions.

Chainlink Honey Farm well worth a visit, you can buy honeycomb there. Saw a seal in Berwick harbour on Thursday.

rest.but it was all worth while.the great news is
the ice men have worked wonders and I am now the proud owner of a new trike xl,have had it around
the coast for a light spin, and it seams faster.ken
