Open Road assets go under the hammer

Hurry if you want to get your hands on back issues of Open Road's publications. The closing date for offers to the liquidator is Monday 5 February. But - bulk orders (hundreds of copies) only are welcome.

Below is a list of the assets of Open Road that I was sent a few days ago from Smith & Williamson, the liquidators. I was sent it because I've expressed interest in buying various bits and pieces.

As ex-staff, I am also a preferential creditor of Open Road, so it's in my interests that the sale of assets raise as much money as possible, so that it may be possible for the liquidators to pay me and others some of what is owed. This, and because everyone who wants to should have a fair crack at getting back issues and other items, is why I want this list to reach all possible bidders and why I am publicising this list.

If you know of anyone interested in bidding, please do forward this information to them.

Because they only sent their letter to me on the 26th, overseas bidders are unlikely to have an opportunity to make an offer unless they hear about it fast via email. I checked with the liquidators (S&W;) before posting the list here and elsewhere, and they had no objection.

They did ask me to emphasise, however, that only offers for bulk quantities of magazines will be welcome: individual copies are not available. I tried to pin them down on 'bulk' - they said hundreds, rather than tens of copies should be the minimum 'lot'. So please don't bother them if you aren't seriously interested in buying in bulk.

Note the closing date for written offers (I checked - this includes fax and email) is 5th Feb (i.e. Monday).

Note I've left their spelling exactly as they sent it: Bicycle obviously refers to Bycycle throughout. Calfree should be Calfee. Sytek presumably Syquest. Please don't address any queries or anything to me - all correspondence please to Smith and Williamson.

All the best,

Peter
