Rob Hague arrested 'for being run over'Rob Hague, genial proprietor of trike specialists Westcountry Recumbents, was arrested yesterday following an incident in which he says he was run over. The car driver involved is apparently now claiming against him for criminal damage to the car... ![]() Here's the message Rob posted to the trikes mailing list: **************** Last Wednesday I got shunted on my way to work. Low speed and no damage. Just an idiot driver not paying attention. Visibility was clear, roads dry, LED taillights blazing, bright clothing. The car even approached and backed off before hitting the rear of the GTS.. I stopped and turned in the seat to rummage in my rear pannier for a pen and pad. As I got my camera out the car pulled around the trike running over my foot in the process. I grabbed the car's wing mirror to pull myself out from under it before getting hit by the back wheel. As the car was RIGHT up against the back of the trike before pulling past I only got the start of the plate. I called the police and reported the incident immediately - they even sent a couple of guys out to take the report. Guess what happened this morning! Yup, there was a 'high speed pursuit' on the way to work - a squad car tailed me all the way up the 3/4 mile drive to the office. When I parked up the bugger arrested me for criminal damage to the car that ran over me! The world has gone mad... Anyway, I spent 2 hours in the cells before being interviewed. Another hour before being released on bail... This is the 2nd time the local cops have arrested me for being run over by a motor vehicle... What am I supposed to do? CCTV on the trike seems to be the only option... Anyone seen any cameras suitable for the job? Perhaps something with a remote lens so I can head mount the lens and chest mount the 'recorder'? Carol Hague, Rob's wife, is preparing for the worst. "I'm off to start making banners that say "Free the Bishops Lydeard One" :-)" Posted on 01 February 2001 Your comments ...
