Back from Eurobike

Perhaps Europe's biggest and best trade show, and the HPV World Champs, took place in Germany last week. Velo Vision was there...

And we had a great show, took over 400 images and may well have a brief report up here shortly... Expect the full report in Issue 12.

See also our report from last year in Velo Vision Issue 8 - it's a huge show. This year it coincided with the HPV World championships also being held in Friedrichshafen, Germany. But these got pretty heavily hit by rain, so I didn't really get to see much from either land or water events.

  • I am impressed - this posting says Peter is of to Eurobike and will be back on 2 September, but the previous posting (Issue 11 preview) says Issue 11 will be out next week (which ends on 31 August) - is Peter getting them sent out to Germany so he can post them there?

  • From: Peter Eland ([email protected]) on 26 August 2003
  • Um... doesn't this week end on the 31st? It started yesterday in my book (Monday the 25th)...

  • From: John 'apologetic' Turvey ([email protected]) on 27 August 2003
  • Sorry - when there is no time pressure one tends to lose track of the date - mind, if people did not point this out to me now and then I could be late for appointments (I was obviously at risk of arriving at Belvoir a week after everyone else!)

  • From: Seamus (whatever I can't remember) on 27 August 2003
  • So you'll not be at Belvoir Castle then.

Useful tip; computers and alcohol really don't mix, whether on the keyboard or in the stomach.

  • Computers in the stomach are not a good idea at any time!

  • Wel the Belvoir Castle Weekend was an excellent way to finish off the summer holiday fun.
For no particular reason (long ride home perhaps) I didn't quite make it to the castle grounds but well done Simon Thomas and Roger Lovell.

Brilliant Spokesfest Flypast too and the parachutists were good to start with.

  • From: Wobbly John ([email protected]) on 02 September 2003
  • The best fly past was the satalites! Riding up the hill from the pub with Mars clearly visible just above the castle was inspiring. Back at the campsite we watched fireworks on the horizon, and listened to them many seconds later. Between volleys of fireworks we spotted about half a dozen satalites passing overhead - Or were they alien space ships from the planet Dyslexia? Were the fireworks their destruction of Newark in mistake for New York?

  • From: Seamus ([email protected]) on 02 September 2003
  • Yep. Forgotten about the satellites.

The visibility up by the castle meant you could see so much and I've never seen so many sattelites(hedging bets with spelling) at one time.

Oh, and there was one of Shakespeare's plays on the Friday night too, "Not much Happened But a Big Fuss Was Made," or something.

  • From: Wobbly John ([email protected]) on 02 September 2003
  • Satalites...Aaaargh!!! It was true... The aliens from the planet Dyslexia are taking over my power of spellnge. Seamus, if you're hedging your bets about spelling they may have got to you too. Quik.. Run.. Shave yourshelf before it's too laight!

  • From: Wobbly John ([email protected]) on 02 September 2003
  • Sorry, I've just spent 10 minutes giggling at the thought of Seamus running ;)

P.S. Yes...I know my email address doen't work anymore.

  • I am looking for an on-line pic of the new Burley recumbent.

  • From: Peter Eland ([email protected]) on 03 September 2003
  • Hi John, pic of new Burley coming up very shortly...

  • From: Seamus ([email protected]) on 06 September 2003
  • Big dissapointment this morning; big, brown envelope on the doormat,"that'll be Velovision," I though to myself. Of course it wasn't.

This time last week I was in a posh pub at Redmile drinking way overpriced Hoegaarden with really great company at the Cyclemagic Belvoir Castle Weekend. Thanks Simon and Roger. Anyone who didn't go missed a truly great weekend.

  • From: roger etc (@cyclemagic) on 07 September 2003
  • Ta Seamus. Cyclemagic will be part of this years EcoFest in Derby on 20/21 September, and hopefully future years too.

    RtH.
