Electric bikes for the military, says General Wesley Clark...
An interesting article about how a retired US General, and possible Presidential candidate, is promoting a new range of electric bikes for battlefield use...
See: This NY Times article for some interesting acknowledgements of the bicycle's use in military campaigns of the past - and for some pertinent comments about the questionable suitability of electric-assist bikes for such purposes.
Thanks to John Ciccarelli for the link.

An interesting artikle about the use of custumizing electric motors. Developed, this could be the answer to a multitude of aplications, like in hybrid cars or in windmills. Hubmotors and fuelcells are nothing new. NASA used them in the Lunar Rover. BTW NASA has some used Rovers to give away for free. You just would have to pick them up yourself. |

Whilst not wanting to rain on the Generals parade, in the instance of a nuclear explosion the electro magnetic field produced would knacker the bikes, also enemy using portable emf generators could cause mayhem. Best way to defeat an enemy is to impale them on spikes. |

The best (Longterm )way to defeat an enemy is, have them eat at McDonalds, or sell them Teiwanese made Aluminium bikes. |

Are soldiers these days not fit enough to pedal bikes without assistance? You could sell the enemy tricycles and watch them career around the battlefield trying to master steering... |

a rather god idea, for the attak of the enemies is few with tank, as in historical wars. So, soldiers can follow up quickly also in pedestrian streets. And with electrical movement all soldiers are with same speed, equal if short or large, thick or thin, heavy ore light, ore tired. It makes sense. wcr Peter |
