Triple trike news

Greenspeed's latest developments in their newsletter, a UK distributor for the Catrike Speed, and a new tandem TerraTrike launched in the USA...

Latest developments from Australian trike manufacturer Greenspeed are described in their latest newsletter:

http://www.greenspeed.com.au/newsletter.htm

Highlights include details of their expansion into no less than three factories, more about their new seat and steering systems across the range, details of some custom-made rims for disk (or drum) brake wheels, and news that the Magura 'BIG' symmetrical disk brake sets are now standard equipment on tandems - and are available at two thirds of the price of Hope disks on all other trikes. There's also news of interesting 12V lighting systems, and rear suspension is now available as a stock option on GTO and GTR models. Click the newsletter link for the full text and pics.

As anyone who's been watching the banner ads that appear on this site (or the print ads in VV11, come to think of it) may have noticed, the US-made Catrike Speed now has a UK distributor:

Trikes & Stuff
118 Albany Road,
Gillingham
Kent
ME7 4HW
Phone. 07092 111956
Fax. 07092 368413
www.catrike.co.uk

It's a neat, light and fast machine, and with prices starting at around £2000 should be very competitive. Contact them for more info or a test ride.

Finally, US trike maker WizWheelz have launched a tandem version of their affordable recumbent trike, the TerraTrike, which (despite our woeful non-mention of it in the Issue 9 Buyer's Guide) is among the US's best-sellers. The tandem costs (in the US) from a smidge under $4000, and weight is quoted at 60lb (27.2kg).

  • Perhaps there should be review of the Catrike in Velovision. What do you think Peter? Would they lend you one? Well, actually, you've be MUCH too busy to review it... I think the reviewer should be someone who hasn't riden a trike for any great distance, has a track record of writting reviews for VV and thier initials are SB.

  • What a pleasure reading in Velovision about the Catrike Speed introduction in the UK market. We are willing to support this market. We have a great partner here, Ian Buck with Trike & Stuff. Ian who got our dealership for UK, in spite of several other prospects, because of his mechanical engineering background like my self, and his commitment to the trike category. Ian is even working on a custom spec for the UK market. You may direct him any inquiry and I will always be available for any support you may need.

And yes, we will coordinate our efforts with Trikes & Stuff and VeloVision to make a product review possible in a near future.

    Happy Trails,

  • Thanks Paulo - I've already discussed a test with Ian, and will be meeting up with him at the show in London next week.

  • I am still exploring all the options for the Catrike Speed in the U.K. market, I have worked out a way of offering the Schlumpf HS Drive at a very good price as an option, and am very interested in hearing comments from potential customers. Paulo has been very good at responding to suggestions and at least one I made is looking to become standard fit on all Catrike Speeds.
Maybe we can get a test in to the next issue of Velovision, what are the chances on that Peter?
