Folding recumbent design competition calls for entries...
The 2004 SPEZI show in Germany (24-25th April) will host the second staging of this event, which hopes to encourage the design and development of easily-portable recumbents...
You can read our coverage of the first folding recumbent design competition in Velo Vision 6. Velo Vision editor Peter Eland (i.e. me) was one of the jury, and I'll most likely do so again this time. Winner then was the Radnabel ATL-Falter folding, full-suspension long-wheelbase recumbent bike.
The SPEZI (www.spezialradmesse.de) is well worth attending in any case...
Many more details (in English) about the folding recumbent design contest are at: www.faltlieger.de/en/. You can also read about how to enter - the more the better - judging criteria, and more.
Further pics of some of the 2002 entries can be found here.

Steve, I know that Pete's been so busy attending shows, running the business and moving house that I think it was actually a reminder to himself. |

When I first read about this competition, I eperienced flashbacks to the early eightys. Back then in 1982 was the time when whe built our frist recumbents, that sometimes folded under us even when not intended to do so. We also fixed professionly built recumbents that had also done this. I had to think about this when I read Mike Burrows interduction to the book on Folders "Its in the Bag!" |

Dear Peter,
The comments system on your website is an enjoyable online part of the whole Velovision experience.
As you well know these systems are always open to abuse, and Velovision has been by and large free of this - I think you've only had to Moderate a handful of times as far as I remember.
However, I feel I have to write to tell you that the last several comments (on this story and others) supposedly posted by myself have not indeed been posted myself.
In fact I feel the best course of action is for me to cease to post anything further.
In the meantime I am concerned that my name is being used to air views that are not mine or possibly offensive.
Regards Steven Brandist [email protected]
Anyone wishing to discuss the matter may ring me daytime on 01509 236 667

Steven, if the comments system works anything like the pedalcars.info forum, the IP address of each post is recorded and the system admin (Peter or his web host) can see where each post came from, which can often indicate /track abuses such as this.
And if Peter's host is as helpful as ours, said abuser could very quickly find themselves unable to access the site, at all! |
From: Peter Eland ([email protected]) on 07 October 2003 |
..and just to reinforce what Steven said, please don't abuse the system or you may lose it. If anyone else has their identity 'stolen' please email me. |

Goodness Steven, don't get riled so easily. It's not like your other self said anything abusive about yourself or anyone else.
Stuff him!
Your good-natured outlook provides a counter to the otherwise cycnicism so redolent of many posters posting here. |

Yes, Steven (the real one). You're a liked and familiar 'voice' to velovisionaries, don't pull out just because someone's sense of humour needs an overhaul. like the man said "Stuff 'em". |

I don1t know aout abuse of the system, but I finde it a bit odd that people write under an assumed name. The last weeks I did get coments on my anti aluminium posts frome someone who had worked at a local shop. I had not seen or heard frome him the more then 13 years. Frieder Grieb read this! Big darmsteadter Bike builder take legal action angainst Aluminium hater Ralf Grosser! |

Oops, just come back to this. Steve, if my comments precipitated your reaction I apologise. On second reading it could be taken that I was having a little dig at 'your' comment which was not the intention - I was actually poking a little fun in the direction of Peter - which might explain why I do the layout of the mag and not the editorial. I will now retreat backstage to practice my writing skills. |

Wasn't the previous winner a Radnabel that comverted from a really long unweildy bicycle into a really long unweildy pile of bicycle.
Hope this years entries are a lot better than that. |
