Amazing handcycle journeysOff-road handcycles are opening up extreme terrain to disabled riders - recent first ascents include Mount Fuji and Mount Kilimanjaro. More soon - including maybe Ben Nevis in Scotland. Mike Augsperger of One-Off Titanium writes with news of several recent extremely impressive ascents by riders on his One-off Titanium 'Flyer'Handcycle: **** "Here are three recent newspaper articles about Bob Vogel, Mark Wellman, and Steve Ackerman riding the White Rim trail in southern Utah." From the Auburn Journal From the Coloradoan From the Sierra Sun This one is John Nelson and Keegan Rieley who just returned from the top of Mt. Fuji: www.powerplegic.com This one is Jeff Pagels who was just on Mt. Kilimanjaro: www.rainbowexpedition.com Don't forget about Terry Ball climbing Mt. Snow in Vermont in 1998, and Chris Waddell and John Davis who climbed Talcot Mt. in CT. There are certainly many more first ascents to the credit of ONE-OFF owners. We now have bikes in Australia, Japan, and Scotland. There was some talk about Ben Nevis. I hope all first ascent climbers and arm powered trail breakers will report in to me so we can keep records." **** All of those links are well worth checking out, with some amazing images. The PowerPlegic one has some interesting technical details of the machine, too, if you go to the climbing apparatus link. Posted on 16 December 2003 Your comments ...
