SPEZI 2001 gets separate 'Reha' area
This year, special-needs cycles will have a hall to themselves at the Special Bike Show in Southern Germany. There are other innovations, too...
Organiser Hardy Siebecke of Haasies Radschlag in Germenrsheim writes (in German, my translation) on the SPEZI website http://www.spezialradmesse.de/ that:
"We expect that recumbents, velomobiles, electric-assist syetems of all types and the special-needs area will be the 'specialities' at the Spezi 2001"
"We have responded to the wishes of many disabled visitors and will no longer have stalls and exhibits in the main exhibition area. Instead - for the first time in SPEZI history - we will have a second exhibition hall, in the Sports Hall, which is right next to the Town Hall [where the rest of the show is]. Some visitors to the 2000 show may recall the children's test area, which took place in this hall. The main entrance, which is accessible to wheelchair users, is between the exhibition halls and the test course."
"In this way we hope to offer every exhibitor a place - often in the past we've had to turn many often very interesting exhibitors away, because there was not a single square metre of space left."
"At this year's event, as before, there will be the opportunity for visitors to display their home-built machines (prototypes and one-offs, no series models) in the foyer. If anyone wants to take us up on this (it costs nothing), get in touch."
"And, as usual, if anyone wants to get rid of a special bike (perhaps because they just have to have a new one...) they can offer it for sale on the terrace in front of the Town Hall."
"Incidentally, the SPEZI is a 'sale show' - on both days the bikes on show by exhibitors can be bought. So - make sure your wallet's bulging by April :-)"
The SPEZI takes place on the 21st and 22nd April 2001.
