Interesting new folding bike from Gaerlan

Well, it's new to me. Gaerlan Custom Cycles are a USA framebuilder who also import Dahon and other folders, and their gt20 is their own 20"-wheeled travel bike.

It's really more of a demountable bike than a folder: it breaks down to fit into a suitcase. The wheels come out, the rear triangle 'unhitches' at the seatpost clamp, and swings forward. There's a pivot behind the bottom bracket.
Gaerlan point out that because the 4130 main frame is of a similar size to a conventional machine, stiffness should be good, and long stems and seatposts are avoided.

I actually spotted this machine while visiting Gaerlan's home builder supplies web pages. They supply a lot of useful materials for people who want to build a bike or HPV at home, and there's also a useful 'homebuilder tips' area.

Gaerlan Custom Cycles: 838 Grant Ave., Suite 410, San Francisco, CA 94108, USA.
