Beta test the new Velo Vision website!

We've been developing a revamped Velo Vision site - let us know what you think...

Posted by Peter Eland on Friday 12 Nov 2010

If readers could kindly take a look at our under-development new Velo Vision website we'd very much appreciate some feedback!

As you'll see in the top story on the new site, there's still a certain amount to do, but it's now at a stage where your feedback would be invaluable - I'd like to make the site as user-friendly as possible before we actually switch over the 'live' Velo Vision site to the new design.

Note that any comments, forum posts etc made on the new site will be lost forever when we finally do the switchover. The development site is running from a snapshot of forum and story/comments data taken from the current site a week or to ago. It'll be re-synchronised when we do switch it over (there may be a 'freeze' period where no comments or forum posts can be made).

There were several reasons behind the new site:
- I wanted a new, cleaner and more modern look to the site.
- We needed to update much of the programming code anyway for technical and security reasons.
- We also need to move web hosts: the new site should be much more reliable and responsive if there are any problems.
- The new site can incorporate more and more varied advertising - but also behaves quite well if you block the ads!
- The new site should be even more Google-friendly :-)

So, with many thanks to programmer Simon, the new site is up...

Feel free to leave comments under this story, or on the new site. We'll take all feedback on board, and I'll try to answer any queries or suggestions!

Nice clean looks Peter. As we have discussed the ability to block rogue advertisers is good. It would save me 3 or 4 minutes every morning 'moderating' ad's posted overnight.
The ability to search for new posts is desirable, any chances of it being available?

Hangs head in shame....

Should probably point out that the search facility on the new site is now functional. If nothing else, it's streets ahead of the one that's implemented on this site.
