Challenge's new model - Furai 700c

Full-size 'road bike' wheels for the latest high racer superlight recumbent from Challenge...

Posted by Peter Eland on Friday 17 Dec 2010

Challenge Bikes have announced a new version of their Furai recumbent:

They say: "As shown the bike has a weight of 25.8 lbs. BUT, the wheels are cheap, heavy
test wheels and the steerer is the pivot one. So with light wheels, a rigid narrow steerer and a road derailleur and cassette it is possible to build it to around 24 lbs"

"Nice details include the floating front and rear idlers. Front, to avoid chainrub
on a triple chainset:"

"The rear idler is made from injection moulded carbon. Since carbon is graphite it is very light rolling on the chain."

"The steerer is a one-piece CNC item:"
