Velo Vision 40 preview

It's at the printers now. Read on for a sneak peek at the contents and at the rather lovely wrap-round cover...

Posted by Peter Eland on Monday 24 Jan 2011

To celebrate our 40th issue of Velo Vision we decided to hark back to Issue 1, when we had a rather splendid cover image (of this mural) which wrapped round onto the back page:

And for Issue 40 it looks like this:

Issue 40 contents

The contents are largely unchanged since our earlier preview:

Features
- Cycling by satellite: a beginner's guide to what GPS technology can offer today's touring and commuting cyclist.
- By Moulton to Japan: reporting from a meeting of Japanese Moultoneers.

Dealer visits
- We visit Cyclesense, a wide-ranging specialist dealer with two outlets just south of York, at Tadcaster and Thorp Arch...
- Visiting Velo Vision! As we complete our tenth year of publication, we turn the camera on ourselves with a look behind the scenes at how magazines are made...

Reviews
4wieler - Photo copyright Peter Eland/Velo Vision Ltd
- The super stable 4wieler four wheeler, formerly known as the Bakfeetz.
- Koga's made to order Signature tourer, fitted out with...
11 speed - Photo copyright Peter Eland/Velo Vision Ltd
- the Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub gear! We have a 'first impressions' ride report...
- The new 'kickback' two-speed hub gear, Sturmey's S2C.
- A reader reports on his Moulton New Series Double Pylon.

Plus: news, letters, trailers, an all-weather recumbent, pedalling the Amazon, and more!

The issue will be available via the digital edition very shortly, and we'll be mailing it to subscribers with all speed as soon as it arrives from the printers...

Velovision Magazine now heading into
the "Roaring Forties" so called because of the boisterous and prevailing westerly winds.
A big well done to Captain Eland .
I think you deserve a medal Sir !

Great picture and one to look back at when global warming finally does for snowy winters.

Congratulations on 10 magnificent years.

I'll add my congratulations. I think the achievement of the small team at VV has been of great benefit to the cycling world... and not just because I make some income via Laid Back Bikes.
The Bicycle Works like looking over too, so each copy gets well read. I gave a copy with the Helios review to a potential customer today.
Well done on a decade of VV!

Thanks all.

Have been notified of a couple of errata for VV40:

- p. 9: The IHPVA World Championships are not at CycleVision as stated but at Monza, Italy, 10-12 June. Thanks to Howard Yeomans for spotting this.

- p. 40: the author was pictured with Alex Moulton in 2010, not 2020 as stated! Spotted by Chris Bell.
