Burrows double whammyTwo items relating to the renowned cycle designer: the Bicycle Design new edition book launch is on 30th July, and a new version of the SWB Ratcatcher recumbent may soon be made by the Windcheetah people... Books and bikes At a 'Book and Bike Launch" evening on the 30th July at London shop Bikefix Mike Burrows will launch a new edition of his essential work Bicycle Design (edited by Tony Hadland). He will also be showing his latest creation, 2D, a compact city bike "designed for tight urban spaces". More about the 2D here. Apparently the main changes in the new edition of the book (apart from general updating) is the inclusion of a chapter on recumbents - a notable omission from the first edition. Although already listed on various online book sites, the new edition (ISBN 0952060329) won't actually be out until around the end of this month. Bikefix is at 48 Lambs Conduit Street WC1N 3LH - the launch is on Friday 30th July, 7pm. As if the presence of such cycling celebrities as the inventive Mr Burrows is not enough to attract the hordes, Bikefix say "there will be wine and snacks". Ratcatcher reborn? A report just in from AVD Windcheetah, who make the recumbent trike of the same name, says that they're starting work on a version of Mike Burrows' two-wheeled recumbent, the Ratcatcher 9. They hope to build up prototypes by September with proper production starting in 2005. Specification is expected to be in line with their Hypersport trike. Posted on 20 July 2004 Your comments ...
