Three dates for your diary
Dates are fixed for three essential 2005 events: SPEZI (April) Ride Leicester (May) and Bikefeast (August)...
All three will be full of Velo Visiony bikes and people! Go along if you can... Have also now updated the events listings page with these and other details.
- The SPEZI is the long-running German special bike show held in Germersheim - 2005 will see its 10th anniverary event! It's to be held over the weekend of 23 and 24 April 2005. See the SPEZI website (in English and German) and our report on the 2004 event for all the details.
- Roger Lovell writes: Leicester will once again be hosting a celebration of all things cycling with the new Ride Leicester festival over the weekend of May 28/29th 2005. The event is being put together jointly by the people who have brought you Cyclemagic, Park Sessions, The Edge (indoor BMX venue/events), Leicester Bike Film Festival, Cycle Heritage Leicester and Spokesfest.
A typically laid back Leicester event, it will include machines as diverse as Boneshakers to BMX, cycling film premiers, leisurely rides and possibly free beer (again!). We are particularly keen to attract enthusiasts who build their own machines and are planning to host the UK's first Tall Bike gathering.
Overnight camping and evening entertainment will (subject to confirmation) once again be at the Abbey Pumping Station Museum.
Anyone interested in bringing exhibits, giving us money or helping to promote the event should contact Roger the Hilldodger on [email protected] or Andy on [email protected]. Further details will be confirmed at a later date and on the Cyclemagic web site www.cyclemagic.org.uk.
- Finally, in case anyone missed it at the end of our CycleFest report, Jason Patient writes:
"Bikefeast 2005: A new alternative cycling festival based in north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, aiming to attract an eclectic mixture of international cyclists. Based around the weekend of 6th and 7th of August 2005. Email address for info [email protected]".
