Cycle Vision 2005 dates announced
But the venue is yet to be decided for next year's event in the Netherlands... suggestions welcome!
CycleVision is probably the world's largest recumbent event, and for many years now has taken place at the automotive test track at Lelystad, Netherlands. See many reports in Velo Vision! It's popular with visitors from the UK and other mainland European countries, as well as the Netherlands recumbent-riding crowd.
According to this story at ligfiets.net, the date for the 2005 event has now been set by the organising committee as the 11th and 12 June 2005. However, a new venue is on the cards. They say:
"The committee is considering a new location. It seeks to promote more cooperation with cycling interests and the combination of races. The new location should be accessible for the disabled. There should be good access to public transit and better enclosed spaces. Further, the wish list includes a near-by campground."

How about the racetrack at Zandvoort? Camping nearby and not too far from the ferry. |

Just had an email in, forwarded by Ken Davison, from one of the organisers, suggesting that they're indeed hoping to use Zandvoort for racing. However, best wait until that's officially announced - presumably they have to confirm availability/affordability first... |

Hello bike enthousiasts, there are many things in the heads of the organising committee. The idea for a Recumbent organisation nvhpv was born on Zandvoort twenty years ago. We thought it would be nice to make a big cycling event there. Many shemes on talks, as there are many possibilities there. However, some ideas such as a quidditch game by the Flykes could possibly a bit too enthousiastic. Within a few weeks we hope to present the programme. Also, we are hoping on the participation of Fietsersbond, the largest Cycling organisation with 30000 members, in The Netherlands. They celebrate their 30th year of existence next year. In short, there are a lot of new developments. |

Zandvoort sounds a rather nicer prospect than Lelystad. *ESPECIALLY* if there's a programme of proper races, with drafting and everything, rather than just yawn-inducing time trials... |
