 The Ultimate Collection?

I'm sure most Velovisionaries know that one bike is never enough...

But what is the Ultimate Collection, for all occasions?

The only "Folding" I have, is the Bike!

Sounds like an Elton John greatest hits compilation to me...

That would quite possibly be John Turvey's.

Well I couldn't personally think of a recumbent that he hasn't got that I would want... Well, apart from maybe a velomobile?!

I can think of at least one that John Turvey has got that I would not want!

If it ain't broke - fix it 'til it is.

My lad Tom (age six, and as tall as Gnick says elswhere) learned to ride a bike last Saturday. Now he wants a recumbent trike as well!
So that's two to have fun on: that would apply to everyone. But what about
covering all adult uses? I assume safety bikes, 'cos they are what I know:-
commuting;
touring;
fast day rides, just for the Hell of it;
shifting transport modes ( a folding bike!)
thrashing around in the woods.
Add a trailer, and you could manage with five bikes (each).

Well, as Wobbly John has not seen the one bike I have that I would be willing to get rid of, I wonder which one it is that he would not want - I would not want to give up any of my trikes or the Ti-Rush, and in some ways my favorite is still my Peer Gynt (it was my first recumbent), and my recumbent Brompton is just too useful for what I use it for (even though it has a lot of limitations) - those are the only one I have been riding when he could have seen them (unless he has been peering through my windows when I am out).

John Turvey

Peer Gynt
Cobra 2000
Brompton (upright - with Mountain Drive)
TranSport
Brompton (recumbent - Neuss Conversion Kit)
M5 20/20
Titanium Gold Rush
Greenspeed GTC
Trice Micro
Trice XXL

and Xootr (kick scooter)

(and, definiterly not in use, a #1 Airframe and a ladiies bike sold by my Great-Grandfather around 1900)

Must admit that I've found our 'multi-occupancy' Bernds semi-folding tandem of great family use every day. Rohloff hub, built in hub lighting, Hope disc - all help to make a safe and easy to use cycling experience in amongst the slow moving traffic of Edinburgh. Not to mention the fact that you can hang a bulky load over the rear bars when you ride solo. Of course there are faster and lighter bikes than the Bernds is the most useful we've found for daily use.

The 'bents that we own are also a lot of fun... fast and comfy for days out and about. Mind you it would be good to be able to use our front room from time to time.

If you want something upright, light, fast and useful the R&M; Delite Blue is a good bet. Neatly built in pannier rack that allows back suspension and panniers.
