 Towing massage couch

Does anyone know of a massage business using bicycle transport?

I recall a letter in an earlier issue of Velo vision from someone asking advice on carrying the couch by bicycle trailer but have seen nothing more.

It's something I'm considering and I'd be interested in hearing from anyone doing a similar thing (or indeed if not massage, then small business using bikes as transport).

Thanks!

A friend here in york runs a Yoga business car-free, but i don't thing she does anything involving a couch. There is a business called York Shiatsu which I have been told is run by a car-free cyclist (there is a website I believe).

I reckon a massage couch should be easy to transport by trailer. Either a larger goods trailer like a Columbus, a chile trailer, or a made-to-measure body built onto a child-trailer chassis should do nicely. Depending how small the couch folds down to, a loadbike like a Christiania or 8-freight might be worth looking at. My own business transports bikes around by trailer, up to 3 at a time, but I built the trailers myself. I find trailers more useful than loadbikes, as they can be left behind when not needed, leaving a 'fast response' bike, and can be swopped between staff, who can then ride their preferred bike.
However, Josh Parker runs Special Branch garden Services with 2 Christania trikes and he swears by them.
A local Joiner runs Dovetails joinery with a big Gustav Werner trailer on a touring bike.
Cyclone couriers in York use both 8-freights and trailers, while Loadbikes, who carry out heavy parcel, print and newspaper deliveries use Maximus trikes. A bit OTT for a massage couch I think!
Maybe a Pashley trike would meet your needs? (he says, with one for sale!).

You didnt say where you're based, and obviously the terrain makes a big difference!

I do not know how big or heavy a massage couch is.
However, you might try a Surfboard carrier. This carrier holds the surfboard
on its edge to the right of the rider.
I believe there was a picture of one in the latest issue ov Velovision.

The mention of a sufboard carrier brought to mind the XtraCycle. You should find details in VV. I'm sorry I never have site details to hand for products I mention, but I usually do this over my lunchtime coffee, with the lappy plugged into my friend's coffee house. or skulking in the basement cafe of our local cinema.
It's a rich life!

Andy, you're plugging a laptop into a coffee house? Is that some kind of USB/Expresso thing? Could you email me a regular latte please...
